National Animal Day – [#2676]

National Animal Day: our love for pets starts with recycling!

Today, 14/3, Brazil celebrates the National Day of Animals. The objective is to make the population aware of the care of animals, whether domestic or wild. This is where the role of recycling comes in, a topic of paramount importance to Alpfilm!

We know that plastics, when improperly discarded, have the ocean as their final destination. In this way, the waste can suffocate and trap some aquatic species. And when they're microplastics (less than five millimeters long), they can even end up in the digestive system of some species of marine life that ingest them.

When it comes to plastic-stretch film, such as Alpfilm Protect, recycling seems more complicated, since it is an item that has direct contact with ready-to-eat and raw food materials, giving the impression that the material should be discarded. in organic waste – which cannot be recycled. What is not true.

The fact is that plastic film is highly recyclable and only needs to be cleaned before disposal. That is, simply clean the material right after use to ensure that there is no organic residue in the material. You don't even need to wash, just the aid of a cloth is enough to discard the plastic film in the recyclable waste. But plastic cannot, under any circumstances, be wet, whether from water or waste.

Another tip: you can reserve a single bag for the plastic-film and crush it into a ball, to make the work of the collector easier. This way, the waste takes up less space and weighs more.

The result? This material can be reused in the production of several other items that we use daily, such as black garbage bags, for example!
